Identity Documents
CNH, RG and CPF translation to get your New Jersey license
The NJ MVC runs on the 6 Points of ID system, and a document in Portuguese scores nothing. We translate your Brazilian driver's license, RG, CPF, passport and voter registration in the format the counter accepts.

Why you need it
The NJ MVC 6 Points of ID system
To get a driver's license or a state ID in New Jersey you have to reach 6 points' worth of documents — and Brazilian documents only count when they come with a translation. This is where most people end up going home without resolving anything.
6Points required
- 4 points
Valid Brazilian passport
A primary document. We translate the identification page whenever the counter asks for it.
- 3 points
Translated birth certificate
Accepted as a primary document when accompanied by a certified translation.
- 1 point
Translated Brazilian driver's license
Also used to prove driving experience when dealing with insurers.
- 1 point
Translated marriage certificate
Essential when the name on your passport doesn't match the rest of your documents.
Exact point values are set by the NJ MVC and can change. We confirm with you which documents are worth translating before we start.

Frequently asked questions
Can I drive in NJ with a translated Brazilian license?
For visitors, a Brazilian license with a translation is generally accepted for a limited period. Anyone who becomes a resident of the state has to get a New Jersey license — and the translation counts as a scoring document in that process. Check the current rules with the NJ MVC before driving.
Do I need an International Driving Permit?
The IDP is issued in Brazil and works as a supplement to your license, not a replacement. If you're already in the U.S. and didn't get one before travelling, a certified translation of your license is the way to resolve it.
My married name differs across my documents. Is that a problem?
It's the most common discrepancy. A translated marriage certificate bridges the maiden and married names, and is usually required alongside the other documents. Mention it in your request so we translate the right set.
Does the translation work for the New York DMV too?
The certified translation itself is the same; what changes is the list of documents each state accepts. Tell us which agency the translation is for and we'll check the current requirements with you.
